        Shingles is contagious?
Yes, you can catch chickenpox from shingles with someone if you have not had chickenpox before. Shingles rash is contagious until all the blisters have scabs and are dry. But beware: most adults and older children have already had chickenpox and are immune.

        In addition, if the blisters (vesicles) are covered with a bandage, it is unlikely that the virus spread to others. The reason is that the virus is transmitted by direct contact with vesicles. (So if you have a job, you can return to work once the blisters have dried, or sooner if you keep the rash covered and feel well enough.) Shingles is peculiar to rise rapidly and often very high antibody titre, as the serological diagnosis of herpes zoster remains an important element when you have a doubt about the etiology of this eruption.
